What to do When Crystals Break

What to do When Crystals Break
By Lourdes Lebron

When crystals break, many of us feel sad or broken hearted. The damage done can seem irreversible and hopeless. There may even be feelings of guilt surrounding the damaged stone. This article will give you ideas, tips, and suggestions as to what you can do with broken pieces.

The first thing to do is to check how the crystal feels. Does it feel sad or is it happy to be liberated? This may seem odd, because we think of a break as damaging, but to some crystals this is a chance to start afresh as a new energy form. Hold the stone in your hand and see what images come to mind, what you sense energetically, if there is a sweet or sour smell or if you can even taste the energy. The crystal will vibrate with a message and it is us up to us to receive and decipher it.

Wear or Carry the Appropriate Crystal

The simplest way of gaining benefit from crystals is to wear them for a period of time. Some crystals, such as jaspers, work slowly and continuously, and you may feel you would like their ongoing support. Others may work faster and are best used in short bursts. Remove them if you start to feel uncomfortable, and make sure they are cleansed. If you are wearing them in the form of jewellery, they are best set in pure metal such as silver or gold, not plated base metal.

How to Clean/Cleanse Crystals

How to Clean/Cleanse Crystals
By Lourdes Lebron

When first working with a crystal, it is a good idea to begin by cleaning it. The goal is to remove any energy that might hamper its vibrations.  There are many ways to accomplish this and this article will touch upon a few of the easiest methods.

The easiest way to clean a crystal is to place it in moonlight on a windowsill. If the temperature is warm you can place it on the ground or on a porch or deck (cold temperatures can crack and break many crystals). If you lay it on the ground, marking the area will insure that you don’t lose it.

Part 1:
The Basics – How to Select Your Crystals and How to Care For Them

Congratulations on beginning your crystal journey! I hope you enjoy working with crystals and experiencing how they can enhance and improve your life. Crystals have been used by people for thousands of years. There are over 200 references in the Bible about crystals and they were an integral part of biblical life, including the twelve stones on the breastplate of the High Priest Aaron. Ancient Egyptians used Carnelian, Lapis Lazuli, Peridot and other crystals in their jewelry and other adornments.  Roman soldiers even carried Tiger Eye to encourage bravery in battle.

Congratulations! Your beautiful, new crystals just arrived and you love them!  What next? How can you get the most from working with them? What will make them “happy” as they work with you?

There are many philosophies and schools of thought when it comes to crystal healing and energy work. And I agree with parts of almost all that I’ve come across. But one thing I have come to know is absolutely true, every time, is that it is more than a good idea to clear your crystals when they first arrive, and then regularly as you use them. I think of it as one of those basics like washing your hands before you eat and washing produce before using it.  Or, erasing a white board you want to use after someone else wrote on it. You just have no way of knowing where that crystal has been or what it has been used for before it got to you. Maybe the person carving it

Interested in crystals but don’t know where to start? I often come across people who see me wearing crystals and are very drawn to them, but don’t know what to get for themselves. There truly are so many wonderful crystals available these days that it may be hard for a beginner to choose.  It is very important to go with your intuition and what feels right to you, but there are a few crystals that are kind of a foundation in terms of their effects on those who haven’t had a lot of experience with crystals. They are Clear QuartzAmethystSmokey QuartzRose QuartzCitrine, and Black Tourmaline.
